Pest Control Guides for Malaysian Homeowners

Everything on this page comes out of jobs we’ve actually run in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor homes. No general advice scraped off American pest control sites — Malaysian pests, Malaysian houses, Malaysian prices. German cockroaches breeding behind a kitchen cabinet in a Cheras flat behave nothing like the American cockroaches coming up a Bangsar drain, and the fix is different for each.
The guides below are grouped by the pest you’re dealing with. Each one answers the question first, then explains why the problem started, what a treatment involves, and what it costs before you call anyone. Where a DIY fix genuinely works, we say so — bait stations from the hardware store will handle a few stray ants, and you don’t need us for that. Where it doesn’t, we say that too, and we’ll tell you what a real treatment takes.
If you already know what you’re dealing with and just want a price, skip the reading and send us a WhatsApp with a photo. We quote from photos, no site visit needed for a home.
Cockroaches
The most common call we get. Nine times out of ten it’s German cockroaches in the kitchen, and spraying makes it worse by scattering them.

Termites
The expensive one. Subterranean termites work inside the timber and you usually see the damage months after the colony moved in.
- Mud Tubes on Your Wall — what they are, and how to tell an active tube from an old one.
- White Ants vs Termites — same insect, and why the name confuses people into ignoring it.
- Where Termites Hide in a Malaysian House — door frames, skirting, and the spots we always check first.
- Termite Baiting vs Soil Treatment — which one suits your house, and when baiting is the wrong call.
- Termite Treatment Cost in Selangor — real numbers, and what drives the price up.

Rats
Scratching in the ceiling at 2am is almost always roof rats. Baiting alone won’t hold if the entry point stays open.
- How to Get Rid of Rats in Malaysia — the full sequence: trap, bait, then proof.
- Rats in the Ceiling — the 2am scratching, and how we get them out of a sealed ceiling space.
- How Rats Get Into Malaysian Houses — the gaps you can seal yourself this weekend.
- Rats vs Mice — tell them apart from the droppings, because the treatment differs.
Ants
Usually a kitchen problem, occasionally a painful one. Most ant trails are a DIY fix — we’ll tell you which ones aren’t.
- Get Rid of Ants in the Kitchen — why wiping the trail spreads the colony instead of killing it.
- Types of Ants in Malaysian Kitchens — identify yours before you buy any bait.
- Semut Api (Fire Ants) — the one ant worth calling someone about, especially with small kids around.
By Area
Pest pressure isn’t the same across the Klang Valley. Older Cheras and PJ terraces get termites; new Setia Alam and Cyberjaya builds get ants and rats off the construction ground.
